Do Christian Affirmations Work For Anxiety & How To Use Them

Christian Affirmations 100% work for anxiety! The way affirmations work for anxiety is by allowing your subconscious mind to accept a new reality that YOU TELL IT!

There is nothing more powerful than when you introduce a new thought to your own subconscious mind. When you hear yourself say an “I AM” statement.

Your mind is more susceptible to receiving words from you, and your cells are always listening to your thoughts and words.

Why are they listening? They are listening for instruction. Instruction that you can give them.

I want to reiterate that your words have the power NOT your thoughts! This is so important to remember when using biblical affirmations for anxiety.

Q & A : Biblical Affirmations

Are there affirmations in the bible?

No, you probably won’t find and specific affirmations in the bible as affirmations were not a trendy thing back then. You will however find decrees, declarations, and blessings in the bible.

Deuteronomy 28 is full of biblical affirmations in the form of a chapter full of blessings. Also, we see in Job 22:28 this, “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.”

Decrees are a biblical thing! They are not any different from biblical affirmations. With affirmations, you are decreeing and declaring certain things over your life to bring about positive change or outcomes.

When you use biblical affirmations, you are doing the same thing, but you have the power of scripture behind your words!

Are affirmations biblical?

Yes, I believe that affirmations are biblical. Let’s take a look at a couple of scriptures that have led me to the decision to use biblical affirmations in my own life.

  • Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Here we see it plain as day that our words have power so powerful that we can speak life or death into our own lives by way of our mouth. That’s some powerful stuff!

  • Mark 11:23-24 “I tell you the truth, if someone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

Again, Jesus is showing us the importance of our words and how powerful they are. Here Jesus says that if someone says (using speech) to this mountain be removed and cast into the sea they shall have whatever they say. Being removed and cast into the sea is a declaration to that mountain! Of course, we must believe what we are saying and not doubt in our hearts.

  • Proverbs 16:24 “ Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”

Here we see the importance of kind words in scripture. We know that they are good for our soul and our health, so why not use our words to live to our bodies, souls, and minds.

  7. Once you are complete with your affirmation session take a moment to reflect on how you feel. Do you feel lighter? Are you more anxious? Do you feel safe?

What does God say about me affirmations?

In Romans 4:17, God told Abraham that he had made him the father of many nations.

Scripture then gives us a characteristic of God. “even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”

Did you see that? God is a God that calls things that be not as though they were. We are created in the image of God, and we are called to be imitations of him.

God created with his mouth and professed statements such as “I AM THAT I AM”.

Using I am statements are very powerful and depict a God-like nature. Use your words to create the life you want, just as God did!
