Before we get into the 15 bible verses for infertility, I think it’s important to discuss why infertility may exist in the first place.

This question has always made me wonder because I know that God has called us to be fruitful and multiply. So, if God’s purpose is (not was) for us to be fruitful and multiply, then why are there so many precious daughters of God experiencing the opposite of that. Genesis 1: 28

When God gave the command in Genesis, he was not talking about a select few women, he was talking about ALL women. God is no respecter of persons!

If infertility isn’t God’s plan, then who’s the plan, is it?

Infertility may exist because of the following reasons:

  1. The strategic agenda of Satan. To stop the multiplication of God’s children and most importantly his kingdom.
    • Let’s be honest here. Our enemy, Satan, does not want God’s kingdom and purposes to advance. I believe strongly in this sentiment and believe it is one of the biggest reasons so many believers are oppressed with infertility.
  2. We live in a fallen world where sickness and disease exist.
    • Because of the fall of Adam and Eve we live in a fallen world where sin abounds. Therefore, as a result, we experience not-so-desirable things while here on the earth, which includes infertility, sickness, disease, etc.
  3. The current conditions of our food, water, and air. Our human bodies are strong yet fragile. The world today as we know it is full of processed food, pollution, toxins, and chemicals. Our bodies are being exposed to things that are directly linked to infertility.

Infertility is either two things: a spiritual problem or a physical problem. Finding out which one lines up with what your experiencing is key to overcoming this.

The biggest thing that I have learned during my journey with infertility is that God is not the one doing this to me. This was so profound because I found myself resentful toward our father even though I couldn’t admit it.

My biggest revelations came from the book by Nerida Walker. The book is titled God’s Plan for Pregnancy, From Conception to Childbirth and Beyond. This book alone revolutionized my way of thinking concerning infertility!

Check it out here.

God did a great work in me while reading this book. Some of the greatest truths that I received were to rest in the finished work on the cross, that God was not the author of this because he commanded us to be fruitful, and that Satan was the thief!

Satan came to kill, steal, and destroy.

Take away: God is not the author behind infertility issues. Satan is the one who came to kill steal and destroy.

15 Bible Verses For Infertility:

What Does God Say About Being Barren?

1. Luke 1: 36-37

And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Good news: This passage is so beautiful and shows us that age is not a factor with God! No matter what the situation is what may be impossible with man is possible with God!

And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

Good news: This passage is very metaphorical. It has been used to ensure our inheritance and finances; however, God also showed me the blessing of fertility in this scripture.

3. Romans 4: 21

And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Good news: Verse 21 shows you that you can be fully persuaded and trust God to perform what he promised.

4. Romans 4: 19-20

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God

Good news: This is about the Story of Abraham and Sarah. Two pillars of the Faith! Just like they did, you don’t have to be moved by the circumstances or the doctor’s report. No matter what you have been told you can stand on the promises of God and believe!

5. Hebrews 11: 11

Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

Good news: Through faith, you can also receive strength to conceive just like Sarah did. Knowing that your God is faithful and a promise keeper makes you a magnet for miracles.

Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

Good news: I did not list the entire passage but this one is a GOOD read! When you’re ready, read this entire passage as it breathes life into your situation.

7. Genesis 1: 28

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Good news: The proof is in the pudding. This is one of the top scriptures for understanding what God has said about the infertility issues that you or someone you know is facing. Stand on God’s word and his original plan for ALL mankind. That includes you!

Bible Verses On Infertility: The Book of Psalms

8. Psalms 92: 12-14

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.

Good news: The best part about these verses is that it gives us hope that age is not a factor with God.

9. Psalms 113:9

He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord.

Good news: This is a promise that God will settle the childless women and give them children!

10. Psalms 115: 14-15

May the LORD cause you to flourish, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Good news: Here we see that it is God that causes us to flourish, and not only us but our children also. Amen!

11. Psalms 127: 3-4

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.

Good news: Having children is a birthright for the women born into the kingdom of God. A major plus here is that the fruit of the womb is your reward!

12. Psalms 126: 5-6

Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.

Good news: This passage shows us that there is an end in sight to our fruitlessness. If you have been crying know that your weeping will come to an end. The more you have sown in tears, the more you will reap in joy.

13. Psalms 84: 11

For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Good news: It is great to know that God will not without any good thing from the righteous!

14. Psalms 23:1

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

Good news: Here we see that with God as our shepherd we lack NOTHING. You are not lacking infertility! God has already provided.

15. Psalms 139:14

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Good news: This is such a beautiful scripture. This helps you to love your body FULLY no matter what diagnosis you have been given, or if it’s not functioning like you think it should. You can still love your womb and body just as it is. God can use and do anything!
