First, let me say that I have been using doTERRA essential oils for about 4 years now, and I was hooked after my first use.

So, what was my experience and why did I fall in love with doTERRA. Here is a quick glance at why doTERRA essential oils became my go-to.

During one of my shifts at work, I had a MASSIVE headache and my good friend handed me a bottle of Past Tense by doTERRA.

She told me that it can help reduce head tension, and asked that I give it a try. I’ve never been into medicating myself unless absolutely necessary, so I was open to it.

Is doTERRA the largest essential oil company?

The short answer is yes. As a matter of fact, doTERRA was awarded the Verified Market Leadership Award in the Global Aromatherapy and Essential Oils Market for 2020.

According to Verify Markets, doTERRA is the largest player in the Global Aromatherapy and Essential Oils market.

They went on to say that, “in 2019 the company shipped products to over 120 countries”.

One of my top reasons for using doTERRA essential oils is because doTERRA prides itself on manufacturing the PUREST essential oils possible.

doTERRA tests their essential oil by using a method they coined called the CPTG Certified Pure Tested Grade^® protocol. 

Remember, most essential oils company do not take their essential oils through a standard testing process because it eats up time and money, but doTERRA decided to do so. This also sheds light on why doTERRA oils can be on the pricier side.

Is doTERRA FDA approved?

No essential oil company is regulated and approved by the FDA. Not even doTERRA, but they are FDA compliant with their marketing efforts.

Before this raises any red flags for you, please understand that is somewhat difficult for essential oils to be regulated by the FDA since they are not considered “drugs” and are natural products.

The FDA has this to say about essential oils, “Sometimes people think that if an “essential oil” or other ingredient comes from a plant, it must be safe. But many plants contain materials that are toxic, irritating, or likely to cause allergic reactions when applied to the skin.”

doTERRA never claims that their oils won’t cause irritants or toxic properties.

What’s important to understand is that essential oils are potent, so you need to use them as directed on the bottle and by your own research.

I have personally used essential oils in various ways, and have yet to experience any adverse side effects during use.

Of course, I am mindful when I am using essential oils and do my own research for the product I am using.

For instance, their Wild Orange essential oil goes for $13.33 while their Turmeric oil goes for $37.33.

It all depends on what oil you are looking for and the size. In addition, wild orange is going to be easier to source rather than turmeric, so keep that in mind.  

As far as size, most doTERRA essential oils come in 5ml and 15 ml bottles. They also offer roll-on bottles that usually come in 10ml that have decent price points.

I mentioned this before, but I believe a big part of why doTERRA is one of the higher-priced essential oil companies is because of the rigorous testing of their products.
